Prince Edward Island is the smallest of the provinces, with a population of less than 150K. It was named for the father of Queen Victoria.
New London (previously called Clifton)
This is the birthplace of Lucy Maud Montgomery in 1974, the author of the Anne of Green Gables books as well as other stories. She didn't live here long as her mother died when Lucy was very young, and she went to live with her mother's parents. It's a very cute little house with not only period furniture but a collection of scrapbooks and newspaper articles.
Charlottetown
The capital and largest city of Prince Edward Island. It was named after Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III. This Great Blue Heron sculpture in on Queen Street. Queen street runs down to the waterfront.
French River
Like most islands, PEI has many fishing villages. The overlook from where the picture was taken is on land donated by Ralph Hostetter for people to enjoy the view.
Hillsborough River
The Hillsborough is the largest river system in PEI and is a Canadian Heritage River. It has large saltwater and freshwater marshes providing a diverse natural heritage.
